Wednesday from Cairo

another beautiful sunny and warm day in Cairo.  We began with a drive across the city to visit the Citadel of Salah al-Din, a 12th century fortress from the time of the crusades.  It contains a beautiful mosque where we learned some of the basic beliefs of the Muslim faith.  From there, we traveled to the world famous Egyptian Museum--house of 30,000 items of Egyptian antiquity.  Highlightws were items from King Tut
s tomb and the Royal Mummy room.  A couple of the mummies still have hair!

After lunch on the banks of the Nile, we drove to the old city of Cairo where we visited an Orthodox Christian church that marks a possible location where the Holy Family stayed while in their exile in Egypt.  We also visited a beautiful active synagogue owned by the local Jewish community.

Tomorrow, we stike out for Sinai and the Mount of Moses. Please pray for safe travel.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
